Exactly 50 years after its founding, the village community of Lehenhof celebrated its anniversary with a special celebration on September 25. The varied program offered guests a glimpse behind the scenes of a special organisation with an impressive history. Lehenhof, founded in 1965 by the Vienna-born doctor Dr. Karl König, was the first Camphill community in Germany.

Schools with an alternative pedagogical approach that want to guide students through to the end of secondary school often face an unusual challenge. In the lower and middle grades, reform schools have a great deal of freedom and can offer students an education with the same value as mainstream schools, but a very different form. As students approach secondary school graduation, however, they often find themselves once again in a traditional classroom setting.

On July 23, the Diesterweg families, together with the team from the non-profit organization “Sprachpuzzle” and numerous other guests, gathered to celebrate the successful end of their two-year journey together, which was rich in learning and experiences.

The Michael Foundation of Darmstadt received the Denkmalschutzpreis of the State of Hessen on June 30, 2015 in Schloss Biebrich. The prize is awarded for historical building preservation. “This recognizes the more than exemplary restoration and renovation of Schloss Stockhausen, including the gardens,” said the State Conservation Office of Hessen.
