Teschendorf: Wind Power for Tomorrow

The Teschendorf wind farm demonstrates that the energy transition requires not only technological innovations but also carefully planned projects in the right locations. Through its investment, SAGST is helping to finance a project that is helping to shape the transition to a climate-friendly energy supply.

The Project

Since fall 2025, five wind turbines have been in operation near Wittingen in the Gifhorn district of Lower Saxony. With a total capacity of 21 megawatts and an expected annual output of approximately 58 gigawatt-hours, the wind farm ranks among the highest-yielding wind projects in Germany. Mathematically, this is enough to supply approximately 19,000 households with renewable electricity. The wind farm was developed by Energiequelle GmbH. Extensive analyses and independent wind assessments confirmed the site’s high potential for reliable electricity generation well in advance.

Sustainability Criteria

With its investment in the Teschendorf Wind Farm, SAGST is expanding its commitment to sustainable energy infrastructure to four wind energy projects. The decisive factors were the high quality of the project development, robust yield forecasts, and the project’s long-term prospects.

Impact

Wind farms like Teschendorf create the conditions for the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix to grow continuously. They contribute to climate protection, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and strengthen a sustainable energy supply.

“Our grant-making efforts and the management of our assets share the same goal: to take responsibility for future generations. That is why we specifically seek out projects that will deliver tangible benefits for people and the environment over many years,” says Markus Ziener, Chief Financial Officer at SAGST. “In the case of Teschendorf, the impact of our investment is not abstract. Behind the numbers are people and households that are supplied with the electricity generated. That is precisely what makes such an investment valuable to us: it combines responsible asset management with a benefit that directly reaches society,” adds Marie-Luise Millotat, who heads Asset Management at SAGST.
