Ten years of the Foundations and Education Network - a success story

Since 2015, the Foundations and Education Network has been bringing together foundations and committed civil society actors across Germany to open up new perspectives on education. In this decade, the network has developed into a recognized platform that connects foundations, associations, initiatives, municipalities, universities and representatives from science, politics and administration. The aim is to strengthen the educational landscape and expand individual learning and development opportunities.

Today, the network has over 1,200 participants and around 200 other partners. There are regional associations in ten federal states and in Luxembourg that promote local exchange. A coordination office supports this through networking, knowledge transfer and public relations work.

The network sees itself as a guide for engagement in the areas of education and participation. It organizes expert dialogues, conferences and peer consultations, provides a directory for committed individuals and supports the formation of local alliances. This has resulted in a diverse network of projects and collaborations that sustainably improve opportunities for young people and adults alike.

"The network shows the great impact that can be achieved when foundations assume responsibility together with civil society and public stakeholders," says Peter Augustin, CEO of the Software AG Foundation (SAGST). "We appreciate the commitment and innovative strength that has grown here over the past ten years and congratulate them on their anniversary."

As a long-standing sponsor, SAGST recognizes the work of the network and thanks all those involved for initiating projects, establishing collaborations and creating sustainable structures. The anniversary also marks a new beginning: in the coming years, the network intends to focus more strongly on topics such as digitalization and inclusion and further intensify cooperation between its members.
